Classic Kunqu and Peking Operas, with their exciting dramas and fascinating aesthetics, have sustained through time and space to become cultural classics. The Jingkun Theatre, in collaboration with the Shandong Peking Opera Theatre and the Yantai Culture and Arts Centre, has selected representative Peking Opera and Kunqu; excerpts which cover a variety of performing styles. Besides appreciating the provocative interpretation of the shrewish You Sanjie, the heroic demeanour of Liu Jinding and the charming innocence of Chen Xiuying, audiences will be impressed by Mi Heng’s uncompromised denouncement of Cao Cao, the affectionate love tale between Du Liniang and Liu Mengmei, and how Xu Shiying teaming up with the heroes of Liangshan to capture Gao Deng. This operatic journey is a showcase of meticulously crafted characters performed with fascinating literary and martial arts skills!
