Xiangyunsha (Gambiered Canton Gauze), a unique silk fabric known as the ‘soft gold’ of textiles, is a living heritage of Lingnan culture. The dyeing and finishing craftsmanship of xiangyunsha was inscribed as a national intangible cultural heritage (ICH) in 2008 to ensure its preservation and transmission. The workshop will introduce the history and culture of xiangyunsha traditional craftsmanship, as well as its weaving structure and dyeing process from a scientific perspective. Under the guidance of the instructor, participants will have the opportunity to make scented sachets using xiangyunsha fabric, allowing them to appreciate the charm of this ICH.
