“Aerial China” Season 4

“Aerial China” (Season 4) is the first documentary series providing new perspectives for the audience to appreciate the country up from the sky. It showcases the natural, cultural, and socio-economic landscapes of 11 regions, including Beijing, Guangxi, Qinghai, Hubei, Hong Kong, Tibet, Macau, Liaoning, Taiwan, Chongqing, and Henan. It presents the new image, cultural spirit and governance of a beautiful, ecological and civilized China.

Episode 1: Beijing
Beijing, located in the northern part of the North China Plain, is the capital of China. This episode offers an unprecedented view of this great city as a centre of politics, culture, international exchange and technological innovation, showcasing its ancient charm and diverse folk customs.
Episode 2: Guangxi
Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is located in southern China, facing the Beibu Gulf to the south, the largest bay in China, with more than 80% of area covered by the Xijiang River system flowing from west to east. The journey of Guangxi starts from the Lijiang River, allowing the audience to experience the secret realm of mountains, indulge in a colourful festival at Longji Rice Terraces, and overlook the joints of mountains and sea from the peak of South China.
Episode 3: Qinghai
Qinghai Province is located in the northern part of the Tibetan Plateau. In the south is the Sanjiangyuan (headwaters of Yangtze River, Yellow River and Lancang River), the arid Qaidam Basin in its west, and Loess Plateau in its east. This episode will take the audience to a journey of evolution of a small stream into a great lake, traversing the river, following the adventures of fishes, and reminiscing the distant place at the prairie.
Episode 4: Hubei
Hubei is located in central China and is surrounded by mountains on three sides, where the Hanjiang River creates fertile land. Yangtze River, flowing from the west, carves out numerous lakes and converges with Hanjiang River in Wuhan. This episode will take the audience to the top of a famous mountain and look for a great lake hidden under the clouds.
Episode 5: Hong Kong
Feeling the strength of the financial engine of the Pearl of the Orient among the buildings, embracing the romance of the night beside Victoria Harbour, and encountering moments frozen long ago on islands. Time has witnessed the great changes in Hong Kong and carved the new look of the city. Let's follow the camera and take a look!
Episode 6: Tibet
Here is the peak of mountains and the source of rivers; the home of the traditional and wise cultural beliefs; the cradle of Tibetan antelopes and the hometown of wild yaks; the snow-capped peaks and highland pastures nurture simple people. This episode will take the audience to stroll in the clouds and knock on the mysterious door of the snowy plateau. Let’s get closer to explore and feel the beauty of Tibet.
Episode 7: Macau
This is a new yet ancient city, with its own speed and passion, as well as a unique history and distinctive lifestyle. Praise the return to the motherland and the continuation of Chinese tradition in Macau, where the world enters China and China confidently integrates into the world.
Episode 8: Chongqing
Chongqing is located in southwest China, with over 90% of its area covered by mountains, and is known as the "Mountain City". Our journey begins in the mother city of Chongqing, exploring how the cable cars shape three-dimensional transportation. We then head to bridges with distinct styles, encountering masterpieces by masters of spatial utilisation. Finally, we follow the train as it gently weaves into a building.
Episode 9: Henan
Henan in central China is one of the important birthplaces of Chinese civilisation. It has nurtured thousands of years of Chinese civilization and history, including the demeanor and spirit of the Central Plains and richness in resources and talents. Let’s stroll on the clouds and overlook Henan.
Episode 10: Liaoning
Liaoning Province is located at the throat of the rooster-shaped Chinese territory. Its name is taken from the meaning of eternal peace (“ning”) in the Liaohe River Basin. The Liaodong Peninsula separates the Bohai Sea and the Yellow Sea, and the Liaoxi Corridor connects the Northeast and the Central Plains. It is also regarded as the cradle of China's industry. The journey of Liaoning starts from the grand winter of Liaodong Bay. Get energised with the industrial powerhouse, meet the grain carrier heading south, and witness the milestone-making journey.
Episode 11: Taiwan
Taiwan, located along the southeastern coast of China, is the largest island in China with many surrounding islands. It borders the vast Pacific Ocean to the east; a shallow strait to the west and faces Fujian. This episode will take the audience across the Taiwan Strait to explore this legendary archipelago. Let’s follow the steps of our ancestors and participate into an ancient ceremony of hundreds-year old.
