To widely sow the seeds of Chinese culture within the community, the Leisure and Cultural Services Department will revitalise Block 58 of the former Whitfield Barracks (Grade 1 historic building) situated in Kowloon Park, Tsim Sha Tsui. A new annex will also be constructed nearby. This venue will feature multi-purpose activity rooms, a small exhibition hall, classrooms and more. It will not only serve as an important venue for showing Chinese culture, but will also provide a unique cultural atmosphere, allowing visitors to enhance their cultural knowledge through sensory perception, emotional connection and practical engagement. The main objectives of this venue are as follows:
- To provide the public with a dedicated space to experience Chinese culture through interactive experiences and hands-on learning, incorporating cutting-edge technology.
- To offer a diverse range of activities using interdisciplinary knowledge.
- To offer students alternative learning opportunities beyond the regular curriculum, fostering their interest in studying Chinese history and culture.
- To connect with the general public through everyday themes, inspiring them to explore the richness of Chinese culture in their daily lives.
The related construction work commenced in June 2025, and is expected to take about three years to complete. By then, a brand-new journey for experiencing Chinese culture will be presented to all.
