Turning Tang poems into songs, adventures and smiles

The long-anticipated school picnic is cancelled, leaving Siu Hei frustrated. To chase away the blues, Mom and Grandpa host a surprise “getaway” for Siu Hei, and they are inviting audiences of all ages to come along for the ride!

Cantonese opera and Nanyin maestro Yuen Siu-fai teams up once again with acclaimed composer Ng Cheuk-yin and playwright Musette Tsang to create a special music theatre production with a live ensemble. Tang poetry is sung through the enchanting melodies of Nanyin. Come and join this musical adventure with your family!

One Table Two Chairs Charitable Foundation

Founded in 2018, One Table Two Chairs Charitable Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to preserving, promoting, and evolving Cantonese opera and traditional Xiqu arts.  Led by Artistic Director Dr. Yuen Siu-fai, the group upholds the core values of “Tracing the Roots, Honoring Tradition.”  While preserving the intrinsic artistic values of Xiqu, the group introduces contemporary perspectives, explores creative possibilities, and fosters cross-cultural and interdisciplinary collaborations.  By producing works that bridge heritage and modernity, the group aims to engage younger and non-Chinese-speaking audiences, bringing traditional theatre into the public sphere.

The group believes that Xiqu nurtures individual imagination and creativity. Through rich educational outreach across schools and local communities, the group cultivates artistic appreciation to ensure Hong Kong’s vibrant Xiqu legacy is passed down from generation to generation.
