(2) The “Scientific Breakthroughs”

The exhibition introduces the significant achievements and breakthroughs in science and technology made by the People’s Republic of China in the 75 years since its establishment, promoting the Daqing spirit, the “Two Bombs, One Satellite” spirit, and the scientist’s spirit that drive the development of chips and semiconductors respectively with three sections. You are invited to explore the journey of development in science and technology, and to reflect how scientists are dedicated to their mission and forge ahead with unwavering determination in the new era.

The Lifeblood of the People’s Republic of China

Focusing on the 65th anniversary of the discovery of the Daqing Oil field, it showcases the outstanding contributions of geologists, oil scientists and workers to the great accomplishments of China’s petroleum industry, as well as the proactive approaches of our nation in order to achieve Carbon Peaking and Carbon Neutrality.

The Daqing Oil Field is the largest oil field in China. It sets the pace for China’s terrestrial shale oil exploration and development.

The Shenditake-1 Well, a scientific exploration well in the Tarim Basin, is the second deepest onshore well globally and the deepest in Asia.

The Yumen Oil Field 200-megawatt photovoltaic demonstration project was connected to the grid in 2021. The photovoltaic generation capacity of China has been leading the world for 8 years in a row.

Silent Thunder

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the successful explosion of China’s first atomic bomb, the exhibition highlights the remarkable contributions of the scientists behind the “Two Bombs, One Satellite” project, that is, nuclear bombs, missiles and artificial satellites, as well as China’s significant achievements in nuclear technology and aerospace technology.

At the same time as the successful implementation of the "Two Bombs, One Satellite" programme, China had repeatedly issued solemn statements regarding the adoption of the "no-first-use" nuclear policy to ensure that every country enjoys peace, security, stability and prosperity.

Scientists hold an academic debate to break through the theory of atomic bomb.

A Chip-Driven Patriotic Heart

Celebrating the 105th anniversary of the birth of Wu Wenjun and Huang Kun, awardees of the first and second State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, the exhibition focuses on the breakthroughs in chip technology and showcases China’s progress in achieving technological self-reliance and self-strengthening in the fields of AI and semiconductors.

The silicon purity required for chip production needs to reach 99.9999%. High-purity monocrystalline silicon ingots are produced by repeatedly refining materials such as sand and quartz, then shaping or pulling them in a furnace.

Lithography machine is a kind of precision equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. Its main function is to accurately transfer the designed circuit pattern to the silicon wafer.

(3) The “Era of Intelligence”

In recent years, AI has rapidly developed, with innovative applications that are gradually changing our lives. The exhibition showcases multiple AI models and demonstrates their functions in various scenarios such as image recognition, art creation, and language processing. It provides insight for us to understand the fundamental technologies of AI and the innovative work of local research institutions in the field of AI, and prepare for the arrival of the era of innovation.

Towards Autonomous Driving

China is at the forefront of autonomous driving applications internationally. In this simulation of autonomous driving, one can experience the relaxed and comfortable feeling of riding in a self-driving vehicle.

Master Guess

Just like humans, AI needs training to master a skill. Come provide images of “rock”, “paper”, and “scissors” to train the AI and have a game of rock-paper-scissors with “Master Guess”. Let’s see who wins!

Smart Oil Painting

Through deep learning, AI can analyse the subject matter and painting style of an image and re-paint the image using another style.

Flexible Robot for Minimally Invasive Brain Surgery

Surgical robots and AI technology can relieve physical fatigue and stress on surgeons, contributing to the safety and precision of surgeries, particularly during long and complex procedures.

Gravitational Battlefield

The game is set against the backdrop of the famous science fiction writer Liu Cixin’s masterpiece The Three-Body Problem, blending immersive experience, AI and mixed reality for players to experience an interstellar chase as a warship crew member!

Blueprints of AI

The Artificial Intelligence Map is created by renowned Chinese artist Professor Qiu Zhijie, Vice President of the Central Academy of Fine Arts. You can scan the map with your smartphones to trace the history of AI, its technological domains, important algorithms and their applications.
