This year marks the 80th anniversary of victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) has planned a series of educational and commemorative activities aimed at revisiting that remarkable history, and encouraging the public to cherish peace; while enhancing public’s sense of national identity and patriotism.
Among these activities, the Hong Kong Museum of History (HKMH) and the Hong Kong Museum of the War of Resistance and Coastal Defence (MWRCD) will organise thematic exhibitions on the subject. The Hong Kong Film Archive (HKFA), in collaboration with the MWRCD, the HKMH and the Hong Kong Heritage Museum, will also offer free screenings of six films released from 1941 to 2024, allowing audiences to understand this significant history.
LCSD will organise a series of thematic lectures, field visits, workshops and other events, allowing members of the public to have a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the history of the War of Resistance.
Additionally, the HKSAR Government and non-governmental organisations will also introduce different thematic activities in order to encourage the public to gain a more comprehensive understanding of this significant period in history with a profound impact on our country.
